October 2008 9x12 inches acrylic and ink on acrylic paper
I love that time of year in October when the leaves change color and float down to the ground. There always seems to be something like a spark of magic in the air, a glimpse of a normally hidden mystical world, particularly in the forest. Maybe if we look hard enough and open our minds enough, we might just see something…
This was really difficult, but I love the end result. It was an older idea of mine that was perfect for October for my calendar. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted for the background, so I just used the view from our deck of the forest. I collected leaves from a sugar maple in the backyard for references – those took forever to sketch out, paint, and ink.
