16x18 inches acrylic on illustration board Before anything, I have to say that this is one of my favorite paintings.   The idea is of a young dragon wrapping up its first day of learning to fly… the pixies are probably just being curious. I did this using a new technique for trees I discovered, and it was a major challenge to complete. I painted the more distant trees first, using very little detail and duller colors, then worked my way forward, using brighter colors, higher contrast, and more detail as I did. When it came time to paint the dragon, I couldn’t decide what color to make its wings- yellow or fuchsia. I had to scan it onto the computer and test color it before I could make a final decision. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
